To provide a 6month programme for 20 wahine in the community who were interested in learning about good nutrition, physical activity including roopu discussions covering womens issues such as Breast Screening, Cervical Screening and Menopause. 20 wahine were invited to be part of the Healthy Wahine Club, out of these 20 wahine we had a mixed bag of different ailments ie: Type 2 Diabetes, Hip replacements, Menopause, Struggled with weight issues for most of their lives, Knee replacements and reconstructions, Chronic asthma the list goes on. The other 8 seem to of fell off the radar due to a number of reasons ie: injury, sickness, night shift, & night classes. This was fine because thats LIFE . However out of these 8 wahine 4 were constantly keeping in touch asking for any hand outs from classes we were having and checking in on their mates....... (story continues below) |
